Hello and Happy New Year,
Here we are walking through the door into a whole new year…can we not look back and continue to move forward without sacrificing the present moment?
As yoga people, you know that staying “present and at peace” is the challenge of the practice. And, please remember, we are all just practicing…there is no perfection as a goal. The goal is being present for the imperfections and still offer unconditional love to ourselves. We can improve but we cannot be perfect.
Are you ready to accept that yoga is mindfulness? Every magazine, newspaper, TV ad and TV show is constantly talking about meditation. People are being led to believe that it will cure everything from hemorrhoids to cancer.
The one thing you can count on is that it will slow you down and put a damper on your stress responses.
You can meditate without doing yoga, but you really can’t do yoga without being mindful. When you do your pranayama (breath control), it is your anchor to the present moment.
Almost every meditation technique begins with awareness of the breath and for the most part…no matter how advanced you think you are, the breath is your grounding. A full circle of breath, postures, mindfulness…that is the practice.
Your breath is the music of your spirit. When you wake up, before you even unroll your mat , your practice begins with your first inhale.
Life is just breath in and breath out.
I like to think, that, if you are conscious of each breath that you are actually...moving forward on your spiritual path.
2019 is here now and I hope we all embrace every moment of the year ahead with loving kindness, compassion and forgiveness for ourselves and for all beings everywhere.
I apologize for this self-serving message but I am on YouTube! I was interviewed by Janet Wade of the Kingston Board of Health, for her show called Kingston Health. We talked about spirituality. YouTube…Kingston Health and I am episode 3.

Sun is shining and all is right with the world….we can make good things happen for ourselves and the country if we stay centered.
Breathe in peace, breathe out peace.
