Yoga FAQs

What is Hatha Yoga?

Yoga is an ancient discipline of movement and relaxation. Practiced on a regular basis, Yoga helps to quiet the mind and soothe the body while it improves breath, energy, and flexibility. Classes consist of gentle warm-up stretches and a series of postures called asanas. They follow the natural rhythms of the body synchronizing movement and breathing. Each class ends with a period of relaxation, which helps to integrate the healing benefits of the postures on the mind, body, and spirit. Every class leaves you feeling energized and in a state of harmony and balance.

Yoga is not a religion, a cult, or a competition. You don't have to be flexible or in perfect health to receive the benefits of Yoga. Yoga is about listening to your body and finding acceptance of where you are in the present moment.

What do I wear?

Dress in loose fitting pants and tops. Layering is suggested so that when you cool down you can one of your layers back on. We do not wear shoes but certainly wear socks until you feel warm enough to take them off.

What time should I be in class?

Classes start at the time stated on the schedule. It is important for the well-being of all students that you arrive at least 10 minutes before your class time. Come in quietly if you are running late.

Where do I park?

We have room for cars in the back of the studio but be careful leaving as the driveway is very narrow. Parking on the street is the best bet if weather is inclement. We don't own the lot next door.

What about cancellations?

Weekdays we close when the schools are closed due to bad weather. On the weekends it is best to call 508.746.4446 to make sure that the Sat. morning or Sunday afternoon class is taking place.

What else do I need to know about the YogaConnection?

We appreciate it if you don't use perfume as a kindness to those who are sensitive to smell. Also, too much jewelry really gets in the way in some of the postures.
