Instructor, Elaine Sears, has studied Oriental Dance, African Cane and Bedouin Folk Dance with various teachers and has taught classes and workshops in Florida and Massachusetts. Classes begin with exercises for the entire body and students are introduced to authentic steps and movements. Each class builds on the previous one. Dress in comfortable clothing and bring a scarf or veil.

Beginner Level Description – is an introduction to Oriental Dance steps and movements to traditional rhythms. We will learn to develop an awareness of the body through isolated movement of head, arms, chest, hips and legs. Simple footwork will be introduced.
Intermediate Level Description – will continue development of all phases of the dance with more emphasis on co-ordination of body movement with footwork. Introduction to belly movements and floor work. The use of veils and zils (finger cymbals) will be explored.
